Requesting Refund for Annual Subscription

Hi,

I woke up this morning to an a notification from my bank that I had been charged $330 by Shopify. I was testing the service out on the 14 day free trial to compare to Amazon & Etsy in preparation to possibly buy a MONTHLY subscription if my sales had taken off. But I have not made sales to continue keeping my Shopify account furthermore to make use of a $330 year subscription. I am confused and upset that I was even signed up for the annual one over the monthly one without my consent. I was not giving a reminder that the trial was ending but they sent me urgent emails when my shop was going to close due to lack of setting up? I don’t have that much in my bank account right now for a $330 charge which is why my bank alerted me of fraud. I have sent an email to Shopify Billing-but I was wondering how long their response typically takes as it is urgent I receive a refund so I am able to pay my bills.

Best,

Christina

We’re happy to help get this fixed up. If you do not want the annual subscription but would prefer the monthly subscription, then we can reverse the charge, minus the cost of one month. Alternatively, if you do not intend to use the store, then it would require the store to be fully closed before a refund can be processed. You can close your store in Settings/Plans and Permissions.

If the charge wasn’t successful, then the store won’t be closable as there is a pending invoice. Speaking with our Support will be the next best step to help get this resolved. I’d recommend chatting in to confirm that our teams received your email and/or to ensure that your issue is escalated to the proper team.

You can contact our support by logging into your store here, searching your question, then selecting “Contact support” at the bottom of the page that displays the search results.
