Sitemap ERROR

I’m trying to get my sitemap onto Google Search Console and getting the error “couldn’t fetch’.

I then try to see why and this is the reason I got. Can anyone help me fix this as I am not sure what to do.

I was able to properly retrieve your sitemap.

Try again maybe.

The sitemap looks normal so just try the validation again.

@harryjack_98 have you submitted the sitemap?

Hi, @harryjack_98

The Couldn’t fetch error in Search Console is fairly common, and in most cases it’s caused by a temporary crawl issue or something small in the setup rather than a major problem.

Sitemap URL

The first thing I’d check is that you’re submitting the correct sitemap URL. For your store, it should be: https: //watchesbyharryjack. com/sitemap. xml

Opening that URL in a browser should display the sitemap correctly.

I’ve also seen Search Console throw this error temporarily, so if the sitemap opens fine, I’d remove it and submit it again, then give Google a day or two to reprocess it. Sometimes Search Console simply needs a little time to access and process a new sitemap.

Crawl Access

I’d also make sure the store is publicly accessible and take a quick look at the robots.txt file to confirm that search engines aren’t being blocked unintentionally. It’s also worth checking that there aren’t any apps or settings restricting Google from crawling the site.

You could also optionally use the Google Search Console by MP ,if you’d like a simpler way to manage Search Console and sitemap-related tasks.

If the sitemap URL loads correctly but Search Console continues showing the same error after a day or two, sharing the exact error details or a screenshot from Search Console would help narrow down the cause.
