Hello guys, just looking for a bit of advice on wether or not to use Shopify for one of my new ecommerce businesses. I am starting a supplement business in the UK and would like to support a subscription service, an affiliate/ambassador programme as well as the standard sales model. I like Shopify however am apprehensive when it comes to the add ons (can cost a lot extra for some features) as well as the 2% service fee.
Would anyone be able to recommend another service to host my shop or would any one be able to vouch for Shopify. I’m not against Shopify as it is an amazing platform, just wondering if anyone could recommend a better one. I have looked at Shop wired but don’t know if it’s that good. Also Wix but I think it’s features are slightly basic.
You can build everything for a subscription business on wordpress using a service like stripe yourself, then also maintain everything about that website and server by yourself.
For any platform you need to review it’s TOS and and the TOS of payment gateway being used to be sure that’s not falling into Prohibited Businesses.
Versus what? developing custom software yourself at a much more exorbitant cost?
If feature X costs A and creates value B then obviously if cost A is less than value B then just pay for it and profit.
Do you want to be a software developer or simply run your business using the tools available and recompense those that provide value to your business through those tools.
Validate the TOS legalities and you can be running a subscription business during a lunch break by using shopify and apps.

There is no “good” there is no “best” it’s all a matter of context for a particular business and that requires deeper analysis than hoping for a subject “shopify good” from a forum post or internet article.

Recognize your not asking actual objective individual measurable questions with business impact.
The only factual thing that can be inferred is yes shopify supports selling subscription services.
