What has happened to the search in the backend of Shopify?
I have been having my ear bent by all the staff and my Director moaning that they can now not search for stuff in Orders and Products like they used to because the search look and function has been changed since yesterday.
Do you release a heads-up to your customers about changes and how to use new functionality?
And is there a way to give feedback on changes?
Or is it just a case of Shopify are gonna do what Shopify wants to do?
I totally agree, I don’t see any benefit to this change. Hitting ‘s’ for the search does not do the same as searching specifically from the orders or product page. Yes, I understand you can click the small box in the top right to open the search bar for the page you are on.
Not so useful if you want a product only search, so you can ctrl click multiple products.
Now just an extra step, every single search to open the search box.
Thank you for reaching out and posting to the Shopify Community.
As of recently, the search bar design change has been updated across the platform. I’ve gone ahead and submitted the feedback to our developers to look into implementing this change in the future. I recommend keeping the Shopify Changelog on hand to stay up to date with new features rolled out on the platform.
We truly appreciate each of you sharing your feedback with us and have taken note of this.
The redesigned search does make the search function a lot more cumbersome, just running simple filter and tag searches now takes several steps and click-throughs to do, and then if you want to get back a step it will bin you back to the start and you have to reset the filters.
The old search may not be as pretty but it was more functional, less time-consuming, and nowhere near as irritating.
Before a new release/code/design change, does Shopify have a cross-section of end-users to beta test and provide feedback prior to go live?
I completely agree. It’s one thing to search for a specific thing but what if I want to filter my products with a keyword. Totally counter-intuitive that they hid the search bar. I have to click into it SO MANY TIMES a day. Ugh.
