Why am I not meeting shop merchant guidelines?

I checked all the requirements and have met it, but it still says not meeting shop merchant guidelines. How do I know what is wrong?

Thank you,

Aileen

Hi @Aileen_Warren ,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand not having Shopping enabled on your store is not ideal. You’ve shared a screenshot that you are still receiving the same error message after reviewing the Shop Merchant Guidelines. Below, I’ll share a few resources to help you get this resolved as I understand this is important for you and the functionality of your business.

Along with following each of the Merchant Requirements under Shop Merchant Guidelines, your products must also follow our Shopify Acceptable Use Policy, Shopify Terms of Service and Shopify Payments Terms of Service. In this resource here on Shop Merchant Guidelines it goes into further detail regarding the prohibited product types and each of the merchant requirements that must be met.

In the meantime, your customers who are using the Shop app will continue to be able to take advantage of order tracking, viewing recent orders placed with your store, and seeing the available contact information for your business within the Shop app.

In order to best resolve this and take a closer look, I’d like to share this link to contact Shop App Support. Once you’ve navigated to the Shop App Support page you’ll need to log in to the store in question. The Support team will be able to authenticate you and take a closer look to share account specific details on why Shopping has been disabled.

Hi,

I have the same issue? Will it be resolved once I get my first order?

Hi @wotta ,

I understand you’re having the same issue with your Shopping disabled. Rest assured, I’ll share some resources to ensure this can be resolved for you.

In order to have Shopping enabled on your store you must meet the Merchant Requirements listed in our Shop Merchant Guidelines help center resource. Your first Shopify Payments transaction must be at least 90 days ago, so you’ll need to process your first order and allow the 90 days to pass. Please feel free to read all of the Merchant Requirements and prohibited product types listed in the help center resource to ensure that your store can have Shopping enabled.

Thanks @Victoria_13

What about a Facebook and Instagram store? Because we have a new page they won’t let me show it. Do you know how long it takes? We are slowly building followers.

I’d also love any tips on getting our first online order. I know the basics, I.e social media, advertising, Google webmaster submission. But just wonder if I am missing anything.

We are adding more products daily and have a few orders via existing clients from our other business. Would just be nice to get orders from non clients. It’s only been less than a week, so I’m confident we’ll get there.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Have you already had a chance to complete setup for Facebook Shop and Instagram Shopping?

In regards to getting approved for Facebook Shop, there are Facebook Shop requirements that need to be met in order to be eligible. Facebook’s Commerce Policy and Community Standards define the rules for the products and content that can appear on Facebook Shop. The approval process can take up to 24-48 hours on Facebook’s end.

Looks like you’re already on the right track with connecting with your existing clients from your other business to help promote your store. What kind of advertising via social media have you done so far?

There are many ways to advertise your business in order to get your first online order. Some of the ways you can advertise is running paid ads, focusing on targeted traffic and joining online communities to share your store just to name a few.

I’ll share some helpful Shopify Blog resources that can help you make your first sale:

Please let us know if you have any additional questions, I’ll be happy to help and offer resources.

@Victoria_13 Thanks. I did connect Facebook and Instagram but they won’t show my store. They bascially said it’s because the page / instagram are new and we need to build a following / reputation. I do think this is a bit daft considering they let me spend money on an ad to essentiall promote my store, but that’s their rules I guess.

I would be interesting to know how many followers or how long the page needs to be active in order to appeal the decision and see my facebook/instagram store live as I think this would help a lot.

Thank you for sharing that additional information, @wotta .

I would recommend reaching out to Facebook Support again and ensuring that you’ve read and followed the Facebook Requirements in order to enable Facebook Shop and Instagram Shopping. Their Support Team would need to review your account to determine if it is eligible for both Shops according to the Facebook Shop Requirements.
