Why did my ecommerce store suddenly get shut down?

Hey there Joe here, owner of ShopTraderJoe.com, or shoptraderjoe.myshopify.com.

I recently developed my store about 2-3weeks ago. I did it out of fun, not expecting it to bring as much success as it has. I initially bought the upgraded subscription (-$105/month). After seeing success, I decided to buy myself my own domain (-$100/year). More inventory(-$2000). Shipping + shipping labels (-$500). I have about $4,000 sitting in my Shopify on hold. I’m all in about $3,000 to make a simply $1000 profit. I’m thankful for the opportunity, but this stress is not worth it. My store was shutdown with no explanation give. The support has been in no support at all, more of a stressor in my opinion. No one can give me an answer except a kind man named John who just said to reply and wait. I’ve been waiting guys. What the hell is going on here?! Is this Shopify or scammify? Getting lots of red flags here. I’m already looking into Alternatives like Wix & Amazon seller.

here’s my ticket.

I know that Trader Joe’s (the grocery chain) is really protective over their intellectual property and will file DMCA takedowns over it.

While your name is Joe, and you are a trader, you can’t necessarily operate a site called ShopTraderJoe without the copyright issues coming up.

There was a kid named Mike Rowe who did computer stuff in the early 2000s. So he opened a website called MikeRoweSoft.com. Microsoft opened a legal dispute over it and, of course being a big corporation, they won. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_v._MikeRoweSoft

ShopTraderJoe could be mistaken for Shop Trader Joe’s, causing a potential IP dispute, If that’s not the issue, I’m not sure what the problem could be.

I can see that being an issue, but a hold on my funds is still the main concern. Will they deposit my funds? I mean i sent out the packages, invested pretty much all of the rest of my money into my business. Where do I go from here?

thank you by the way.

Honestly for getting your money back, I have no clue. Sadly I hear a lot of people with the same problem on these forums-- they open a store, Shopify closes it but keeps their money, they reach out for help and apparently get ignored.

With big faceless companies like Shopify, if they choose to ignore you even when you are owed money, you usually have to go through legal means (like threatening a lawsuit or arbitration) to get a reply.

If you want to go the legal route, here is Shopify’s SEDAR information. It has the legal department contact info: https://www.sedar.com/DisplayProfile.do?lang=EN&issuerType=03&issuerNo=00037100

Good luck. I’m sorry you haven’t gotten your money back. I don’t think it’s right that they’re holding it hostage.
