Why do I have 0 sales?

Hi,

My website has had around 800 visits since it’s opening with an average engagement time of 20 seconds, yet I have zero sales.

The product sells very well in the retail store I do consignment with.

How can I start getting sales on the website too? What’s wrong with the website?

Hi there,

Congrats on getting your online store up and running — that’s already a big step! I had a quick look at your website, and here are a few observations and suggestions that may help turn those visits into sales:

  1. Traffic quality

    • 800 visits with 0 sales usually means either the visitors aren’t your ideal audience, or they don’t feel ready to buy once they land. Check where the traffic is coming from (social, ads, organic search, etc.) and whether those sources are likely to attract buyers rather than just browsers.
  2. First impressions & trust

    • Shoppers need to feel they can trust the site right away. Adding social proof (customer reviews, testimonials, trust badges, store policies) can make a big difference.

    • Clear photos and lifestyle images of your product in use often help online customers picture themselves owning it.

  3. Clarity of offer

    • Make sure the homepage and product pages immediately communicate what the product is, who it’s for, and why it’s valuable. Right now, it takes a bit of scrolling to fully understand. A concise headline with benefits above the fold can help.
  4. Conversion flow

    • Test the checkout experience — is it smooth and mobile-friendly? Around 70%+ of traffic is mobile these days, and friction at checkout is a common drop-off point.
  5. Marketing & urgency

    • Your retail success shows the product works. Online, you may need to create a sense of urgency or exclusivity (limited stock, seasonal offers, free shipping threshold, etc.).

    • Email capture (e.g. a discount for first-time subscribers) can help you build a customer base and follow up with warm leads.

  6. Analytics & testing

    • Tools like Hotjar or Shopify’s built-in analytics can show where people are dropping off. Sometimes a small tweak (like moving the “Add to Cart” button higher up) can improve conversions.

Since it already sells well in retail, the main challenge is building that same level of trust and clarity online. If you keep testing small improvements and focus on attracting the right audience, you’ll start seeing sales come in.

First of all, I’d recommend getting better images, both product photos and your frontpage banner etc.
Some of your products are shot on white background, some are not – this looks unprofessional in collection grids.
Need more close-ups.

Shoot in well-lit places.

Visit online some famous jewellery stores and use as an example.

I just fixed the inconsistency of the collections grid, thank you. Can you take a quick look if everything looks ok now?

Hi @Tellwho, thanks for your posting here!

Your website has a clean and minimal design, but right now it feels too empty and lacks trust-building elements. Let’s go through each issue step by step:

1. Website performance not optimized

Problem: Your PageSpeed Insights scores are low (Mobile: 62, Desktop: 72)

Solution:

  • Optimize images (prefer WebP format) and enable lazy loading
  • Minify CSS/JS and enable caching
  • Focus on mobile-first design since most traffic comes from mobile

2. Missing trust signals

Problem:

  • There’s no clear introduction about your business info
  • No reviews, testimonials or social proof → customers may not feel confident buying online
  • The homepage looks empty, only showing a banner, collections and product grid

Solution:

  • Add customer reviews & testimonials (you can start with feedback from offline buyers)
  • Include trust badges such as Warranty, Genuine 925 Silver, Easy Returns
  • Show clear contact information: email, phone and address (or at least your state/country for credibility)
  • Take advantage of Instagram feeds to make your brand feel more lively and social

3. Brand differentiation (USPs)

Problem: Customers can’t see any Value Proposition (ask yourself how to improve your positioning: Why should customers choose Zepter Cabinet instead of another brand?)

Solution:

  • Add more on “About Us” section to share your brand story, philosophy and handcrafted process
  • Place a unique value statement right below the hero section. Example: “Handmade jewelry crafted in 925 sterling silver, timeless design, inspired by classics.”
  • Use more lifestyle images or videos to create emotional impact

4. No FOMO triggers or purchase motivation

Problem: Missing pop-ups or triggers that create urgency, like “X people are viewing this product” or “Only Y left in stock

Solution:

  • Use FOMO pop-ups showing recent purchases and stock levels
  • Add time-limited promotions to drive faster decisions

For this, you can try Snap Noti, an app that shows live purchase notifications and instantly boosts trust.

5. Traffic quality (audience targeting)

Problem: Even if your website is optimized, traffic itself might not convert if it comes from the wrong audience. Viral posts or generic campaigns often drive visitors who are just curious, not ready to buy.

Solution:

  • Check where your visitors are coming from (social media, search, referrals).
  • Ensure your marketing channels target people actually interested in jewelry and your brand style.
  • Focus on qualified traffic from niche communities, targeted ads or collaborations with relevant influencers.

Now, please prioritize:

  1. Build trust + brand messaging → must fix first to retain visitors
  2. Add social proof + FOMO triggers → quickly boost motivation to buy
  3. Improve experience + speed → optimize gradually to reduce wasted traffic

These steps will directly help improve conversions and online sales. I hope this feedback gives you clear direction on how to enhance your website.

i went through your store. some constructive feedback from my side:

  1. your logo is hard to read, and can be designed better. it can be minimalistic, and its design should connect with users in the first go itself.
  2. on the home page, try and add some genuine customer reviews. it will act as social proof for your brand and help build trust with other shoppers who explore your store.
  3. i also checked your product pages. while the images are in high-quality (for e.g. wasp grave t-shirt) i felt the presentation could have been better. for example, you can cover the t-shirt from multiple angles and use lifestyle images where real people are wearing it.

these are just some points. i would say shopify has multiple blogs on successful store designs and product pages. kindly check them and you will get a much better idea of the aesthetics. based on that, you can improve your store.

once your design improves, you can move toward marketing your products. you can consider creating ads, writing blogs (for SEO), etc.

Hi @Tellwho

Long time no see in this Community! I can feel what you said here, and it is indeed very frustrating to have no sale at all after getting hundreds of visitors. Since I’m good at store SEO checking, I would like to give you some tips via this aspect and hope it can leave you some ideas here for store further optimizations.

  1. Your store is too clean and makes visitors feel hesitated to stay longer. Well, the advantage of your store is no additional plugins and very straightforward for someone who is willing to know what you sell immediately. But owing to the clean UI design, it makes visitors like me wonder if it is safe to further explore and this store is built up completely. This will increase the suspicion and prevent visitors from going ahead. The suggestion here is to add more verified information between you and products. You can also tell more stories to visitors how you think up and highlights of products.

  2. Store Meta Title and Meta Description are not set up correctly. I find out this situation from source code page. Your meta title is too short, and why not add some line-keywords to identify your highlights of products? The content of meta description is a store URL, it is my first time to see a URL here and surely not recommended. Please note here that it is better to add keywords in the content of meta title and meta description, you can add approximately 50–70 characters for meta title and 100–200 characters for meta description. In this way, your page contents will display better in search results.

  3. Alt text contents on product images are missing. I detect out this issue and I guess you did not add alt text contents before launching your product pages. This will also affect your store SEO and conversions very much. I have listed some examples here below for your reference. You can also choose to check images from Shopify admin page or use SEOAnt to have a scan and add the missing alt texts directly, both available for your store.

Hi @Tellwho,

Is the traffic real traffic, not bots and you are managing it?

Also, when you visit through your store, I would like to suggest you:

  1. Redesign the store interface to be clearer and more attractive. Currently, the slideshow and list collection sections are not very efficient and take up too much space. Try optimizing it and changing the product image to be more eye-catching.
  2. I recommend strengthening your marketing efforts — especially through Affiliate Marketing to optimize costs. With tools like UpPromote, you can easily turn loyal customers into affiliates and boost sales without the high risks of traditional ads.

Hope it can help you

  • Are those visits coming from real persons or bots?
  • Have you run ads for your store?
  • Your store is also missing some essential information for a trustworthy store, such as contact details like email, store address, or phone number.
  • I recommend adding the length details for bracelets and necklaces as well.

Hey @Tellwho

If you’re just starting out and struggling to get sales, one strategy worth trying is affiliate marketing. Unlike ads, there’s no upfront cost or risk since you only pay affiliates after they bring you a real sale.

A solid option is UpPromote , it lets you set up your own affiliate program on Shopify pretty easily. You can recruit influencers, content creators, or even your customers to promote your products, and they’ll only earn commission once they generate sales. It’s a nice way to get traction without burning budget on ads that may or may not convert.

Best,
Moeed

Hey @Tellwho,

I’ve checked your website and found that you’re not focusing on the “WHY” factor of your store.

If I’m coming to your store, what’s that unique thing that you’re providing that others are not? You can focus on that thing and improve your store accordingly.

And to improve sales, relying solely on ads won’t work. You need to optimise your cart page. Try to upsell your products. Add a slide cart to your store that displays the number of items users’ve added, and include a progress bar to show customers how close they are to receiving a special discount.

And one more thing. Avoid adding multiple apps to optimise your cart. Consider adding apps like iCart, which can serve as an all-in-one solution and offer more than just upselling without spending much.
