Why does a server error occur when buying a domain name?

Hi there everyone,

We’ve been experiencing issues on our store for a few days now where the error message “Server error” is displaying once want to buy a domain name.

Does anyone know what this is due to?

Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry you are experiencing some issues when trying to purchase a domain.

Have you tried purchasing the domain using a different device or browser or clearing the cache/cookies on your browser? Sometimes a device or browser will continue to pull the same information, and clearing that connection will allow for that server error to disappear. If you are still receiving that server error once you have tried local troubleshooting, can you share a screenshot of the page you are seeing? That would be super helpful!

I’m having the same issue, I did all the troubleshooting you mentioned still no luck.

i have the same problem since yesterday , i cannot buy the domain name because of server error

Have you tried it on a different browser or device? Sometimes this error will show if it’s a connection error. Please let me know if this works and allows you to purchase the domain.

yes, i have tried on 2 pc , 1 laptop, 1 cellphone. i have been trying since 3 days. i have tried incognito mode too. and i cannot chat with shopify support , the chat remains gray, i can only see what the support text me, i cannot reply them
