A custom domain purchased on GoDaddy is displaying a blank GoDaddy placeholder when previewing a Shopify store, rather than the customized storefront. The owner connected the domain in Shopify and noted propagation may take up to 48 hours.
Screenshots were shared showing the store, the preview action, the redirect to the GoDaddy page, and the domain connection status. These visuals help confirm the redirect behavior and current setup.
Support identified that the domain’s DNS records aren’t pointing to Shopify. Required DNS settings:
A record (root domain) → 23.227.38.65
CNAME (www) → shops.myshopify.com
A record maps a domain to an IP address; a CNAME maps a subdomain to another hostname. After updating DNS at the domain provider (GoDaddy), it can take up to 48 hours to propagate. Then, verify the domain in Shopify’s Domains section.
No final resolution yet. Action items: update DNS, wait for propagation, verify in Shopify, and contact the provider/Shopify Support if needed for account-specific assistance. Additional email setup guidance was provided.
It hasn’t connected yet as they do mention it might take up to 48 hours.
My problem is that when in go into the store manager to continue arranging the theme and setting up the shop every time i wanna preview it it shows me the empty godaddy page and not the shopify store that i customized .
Is this normal? Is it going change when my shop will be connected ?
I ran a test on the domain that you provided, and it looks like your A and CNAME records aren’t pointing to Shopify’s IP address. You will need to log into your account with your domain provider, find the DNS settings or domain management area, and ensure there is only one A Record and that it points to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65. CNAME Record should be shops.myshopify.com. You can also find the steps to do this in our help document.
If you need help changing your DNS settings, you will need to contact your domain provider directly. Remember that it might take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. So if you already completed the steps above, your domain is expected to still point to the old website until it’s propagated.
Once this is complete, you can verify your domain in the Domains section of your Shopify admin. Your domain should be set up and connected to your Shopify store when that is complete.
