Why has my product CSV import suddenly stopped working?

All of a sudden importing products using csv has stopped working for me. Of course my default reaction was to think that I messed something up in my file (even though I had been importing and deleting for the past hour while tweaking stuff).

So before I started this, I exported the default products in my shop that were registered along with my theme I’m using. I figured, well, I should at least be able to re-import that file.

Nope, re-importing the actual file that shopify e-mailed me when I exported my existing products also fails. I even removed all products from the file except the first one. Still fails.

I actually am able to complete the import workflow. It tells me how many products I’m uploading, tells me it’s in progress and then says import completed. But I never get any products. I’ve waited 10-15 minutes just to make sure that there was not something processing in the background (for ONE product).

Seems to have just completely stopped working at the moment and I’m getting zero details as to why.

Hey, @aveevabeauty ! Welcome to Shopify Community!

Thanks for sharing the product CSVs you’re working on. I tried to import the one with the single product to a test store and it failed for me as well. You should be receiving an email after the import attempt and there you’ll see some information on why the import failed. In this case, the import failed because the image failed to download. In other words, the file can’t be found. This can be confirmed when you visit the image link you added to the Image Src and Variant Image columns of the product CSV. You see the page below when you visit it.

You mentioned you had been deleting products. If you deleted the products that are on the product CSV you’re trying to import, the product image files are also deleted from our system. That’s essentially the reason why they can no longer be found. To fix this, you can either do the following:
