Why is my beautiful store's conversion rate so low?

Hi everyone,

I consider my shop very beautiful, trustable and offering special one of a kind handmade products.

I cannot understand why the conversion rate is so low..many people add to the cart and leave.

Any ideas why? My website: www.ioola.com

I appreciate your reactions

Hey, @sabina4

There are several reasons your conversion rate could be struggling. For example, how do you currently bring traffic to the website? If you are running ads you may want to fine-tune your ads to improve the quality of potential customers that are visiting your store. Although your ads may be garnering clicks, if the traffic that’s coming your way aren’t your ideal customers it can result in less than ideal conversion rates. A general conversion rate you want to strive for is typically around 2-2.5%.

I can’t recommend our free guide to conversion rate optimization. It’s a great starting resource for merchants like yourself looking for actionable steps they can take to improve their website conversions.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Thank you so much Dirk for your feedback! I actually run no ads, the traffic comes only from blog posts or social media…

Hello Sabina, I have had a look at your store and here are a couple suggestions on how your store could be improved to get more sales.

  1. Add a latest arrivals section in addition to the best sellers section on the homepage.
  2. There should be customer reviews on the homepage. This would help build the trust of customers in your store as it would seem much more trustworthy.

I wish you and your business the best of luck!

Hi Sabina,

Your shop is beautiful! There are several reasons why a shop may not be converting traffic.

  1. It could be the offer

  2. It could be the traffic (maybe you are not advertising to the right crowd)

If you think that you have great quality traffic, as well as a great offer, I would download an app that helps increase conversion rates. I personally use Fodane . It has a scarcity meter that I use on all of my products, sometimes if there is a holiday I will use the countdown timer instead, cart count favicon, inactive browser tab, . It has a sticky add to cart, which has been massive, and I see that your store does not have this function yet. There are literally 35 apps in one! It is the best.

After you get your conversion rates up from Fodane, you will also have features that will assist you with achieving a higher average order value. Here is the link to the app, they do have a free trial available>> https://apps.shopify.com/fodane

Hi coded05, thank you so much for your reaction, I use automation already via Omnisend.

I mean, I really dont understand why my shop is having such a low conversion rate doin all the things that should be done. I dont run ads so people come from SEO and social media, which is supposed to be quality audience

Perhaps running some paid advertising would be a smart move in the meantime. It’s a great way to get targeted, buyer-ready visitors onto your storefront. Facebook ads are an easy place to start. We have a beginner’s guide on getting started here.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know.

Hi @sabina4

In terms of the design and visual appeal, your store looks great. You have done a great job! Here are a few suggestions you may consider implementing.

Consider paid ads. Paid targeting can be very specific and allows you to reach relevant traffic. Analyze your audience to identify common factors such as keywords, locations, demographics, job titles, interests, and common topics, and use this data to refine your paid campaigns and attract more qualified leads.

Add Loyalty and Rewards program. The Loyalty and Rewards program system inspires customers to connect more genuinely with your brand. It helps to strengthen direct communication between you and your audience. Also, it positively impacts repeat purchases and turns your customers into loyal clients. Within the L&R program you can include: Collecting points, Referral programs, VIP tiers

  • Collecting Points

Motivate customers to spend more and act by using the points program. Increase engagement with your community by rewarding customers with convertible points on your Shopify store with activities like rewarding for leaving reviews, social following, social sharing, or for every dollar they spend. Collected points can be spent on the most affordable options for them. Let your loyal shoppers redeem their points rewards like gift cards, discounts, free shipping, or free product.

  • Referral programs

I recommend using a Referral program in order to give your customers an opportunity of sharing your products with friends and get rewarded for that. Encourage your customers to help grow your brand community using the referral program. The only program that lets you refer a friend, reward both parties, and increase traffic to your Shopify store.

  • VIP tiers

Thank your loyal customers with the VIP tiers. Keep your best customers engaged with VIP ranks and perks. Diverse rewards availability will always find the loyal shopper to increase retention rate. Create as many VIP Tier ranks and choose one of the criteria to achieve the next Tier by earning points, the number of orders placed, and the revenue they brought to your shop.

Implement Social Login. Social Login simplifies the login process and enables one-click signup through social media accounts. Let customers log in using their Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Yahoo, Tumblr, Instagram, or Amazon accounts. Also, gathered data through social login can be studied for customer retention and client analysis.

Hello @sabina4

Low conversions could mean the products that are on display for a new or returning user are not appropriate. You could include a Trending or New Arrivals ribbon on your homepage, and Similar Products or You may also like on the product pages? There are apps that can do this automatically for you e.g. the Argoid AI Recommendations app, and there’s a free trial so you have time to see how it improves conversions and serves you well.

Hi Sabina,

I did view your site and there are a lot of user level problems that needs to be solved which could bring in more conversions for you. For example, when I add a product to the cart, the cart drawer does not tell me if I need to pay extra for shipping this causes anxiety for the user and they might want to search for shipping information and during this process they might also leave the website.

There are many such problems that needs to be addressed and the one mentioned above is just one such example. Let me know if you would like to connect over a call where I could show you how we can solve problems on the site and improve conversions.
