Why is my product category suddenly showing Chinese characters?

Thank you everyone for replying. I can’t say I feel better than its a widespread problem but I’m glad it wasn’t because of something I did!

I hope Shopify monitors the forums and is working on fix.

This just showed up on our shopify store too! A bunch of Chinese letters under category. Just noticed it 5 mins ago. I’m going to try and clear my cache on my web browser to see if it clears up. If it’s on Shopify’s end, this is a pretty big problem for me since I’m cleaning up the mess my predecessor made when listing the products online. I’m literally on a project timeline and right in the middle of updating all the products which includes placing them under the correct category. I do this in bulk to make things faster and when I switched from single product mode to bulk and back all of a sudden I see Chinese. Doh! Haha. I hope this gets fixed quick or else I might have to use Google translate to keep moving forward. I’m on a timeline too. LOL. Oh well. Let me see how I can explain this to my client ay perrishydroponics.com. I attached a screenshot so you can see.

Mine is fixed too however I just wanted to mention that they seem to have updated the categories… new categories are available which I am super happy about… a much better option for me is now available. Maybe it was happening due to an update. Hope everyone has theirs resolved now too!

Same here.

I just checked at 2:15pm Thursday and it looks like the Chinese character snafu has been fixed. Such a strange thing to have happened.
