Why isn't my domain connecting despite manual DNS edits?

hi my domain is not connectiong although i manually edited the dns setting 1000 times ..it s just not connecting please help

Hi, @museworld33 !

My name is Lilith, I’m on the Social Care team at Shopify.

There are a few different steps you may take depending on where the domain is hosted.

If you bought your domain with Shopify

Whenever a domain is bought in Shopify it will automatically be connected. There won’t be a need to edit anything at all unless you want to add some additional subdomains. In the very rare time that something isn’t connecting in this case, you’ll want to check in with our live support team to help troubleshoot.

If you bought your domain on a 3rd party host

A 3rd party domain would be one that you bought outside of Shopify on a host like GoDaddy, Namecheap or others.

To connect these you have 2 ways to do this.

A. Do it automatically if your 3rd party host is one of the listed integrations in the guide.
B. Connect manually with DNS settings on your 3rd party host.

There shouldn’t be any other A records added as this will cause issues with the connection and not point correctly to any other sites.

If you’ve had some trouble with your 3rd party domain connecting, you can also contact your domain host to help.

Other note

After you’ve gone through the appropriate guides above, and you’re still experiencing the issue, you can add some details so that I can help you out further. Please provide the following in order to receive more accurate help:

  • Domain host (Shopify or a 3rd party that you bought it from)
  • The actual domain is important to provide
  • Did you transfer the domain anywhere?
  • Was this connected to another site before?
  • Did you buy it recently or a long time ago?

### Advice with custom domains

Since you’re using a custom domain, it would be ideal to make sure you have a custom email as well! Branding is important. If you’ve not had a chance to set things up, you can incorporate a 3rd party email service to help you with managing inboxes related to your business emails. I personally recommend Google Workspace as an option, it’s been excellent for my various businesses in the past and present and very easy to set up and use.

Once you have a custom email you can also consider looking at really beefing up some email funnels especially around this last quarter of the year when the majority of businesses make their sales. We’ve got a great free course to help with this if you’re just getting familiar with building funnels for your email campaigns.

Let me know how you do with the information above! I’m happy to answer any questions you think of as you work on your business.
