Why won't my automatic discount code generate at checkout?

My discount code will not generate at checkout, my setup meets all requirements. It is applied to all products and is a 10% discount. The only way it works is if the discount code is typed in but it is set up to be an automatic discount.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I’m happy to provide some assistance with creating an automatic discount, to ensure this gets resolved. To confirm I’m fully understanding, do you have any other automatic discounts currently active?

As the discount is not being automatically applied at checkout, I’d encourage you to confirm that it was created as an automatic discount. We have a great Amount Off Discounts documentation that shares step-by-step instructions on how you can create an amount off automatic discount, that I recommend checking out.

It outlines, that you can:

  • Head to the Discounts section of the Shopify admin.

  • From the Discounts page, click Create discount.

  • From the Select discount type menu, click Amount off products.

  • Under METHOD, select Automatic discount.

  • In the Title section, enter a name for the automatic discount. For example, 15offnecklaces.

  • Under Discount value, enter a percentage value for the discount.

  • In the Applies to section, select what this discount will apply to a****ll products.

  • Set a minimum requirement for the discount:

    • Minimum purchase amount requires customers to spend a minimum amount to qualify for the discount.
    • Minimum quantity of items requires customers to order a minimum number of products to qualify for the discount.

  • Use the calendar in the Active dates section to set the start date for the discount. If you want to set an end date for the discount, then click Set end date and use the calendar to choose when the discount will end.

  • Click Save discount.

If however, you have confirmed within the Discounts Section of the Shopify admin that the discount created is an automatic discount, please feel free to Contact Support for further investigation. Our advisors will be able to take a closer look and ensure it gets resolved.
