Will Shopify's native Privacy & Compliance App support Google Consent Mode V2?

Still waiting for this.

One would think that for the price we pay for Shopify we would get basic updates like these on time.

Still also waiting for Shopify to even be legal in EU out of the box but it is not. They have no native solution for displaying lowest price 30 days before promotion which is required by law in EU.

I would think there are enough merchants in EU that these would be high priority for Shopify.

Following..

I am on the same boat I use CookiePro loaded via GTM - We also load GA4 via Shopify so we can have basics GA4 ecommerce events.

I added the consent mode initialization script just above the GTM script in Shopify (the one that sets the consent to ā€œdeniedā€ when the page first load). Strangely, my initialization loads and then is overwritten by ā€œsomethingā€ and that set the consent to ā€œgrantedā€ before the user can interact with the cookie banner. It is as if there was another initialization script being fired after my one. If someone has an idea of what could do that, I would be interested to hear.

For people interested, there is a neat little chrome extension that display the consent status for a website, quite useful for testing (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/consent-mode-inspector-by/phpllnjdcoiijcpgcbhlocjgcegjfnhb )

Hi All,

spoke with support a couple days ago and they stated it’s fully compliant now combined with the native google app.

when I test in taggassistant I get all granted so I guess it works.

Great news. Thank you Vincent and thank you Shopify. Well done.

how can i check this?

Onno

Hello,

and is it necessary to set up something from my side?

Thank you

Is this in the native shopify consent banner, or another app that you are using?

It’s the native Shopify integration (settings - privacy settings - cookie banner.

and you can check if it’s working via taggassistant

Any one has complete all the steps. are working fine ?

Hello Vincent

According to the google team, this is not the correct configuration. According to them, the ā€˜default on page’ values should be ā€˜denied’ all the time. Accepting cookies should not change this value. We have exactly the same problem. Apps such as pandectes configure this correctly, unfortunately, even with this app the approvals for shopify are displayed in tagassisant.

Not sure but if google their own suggested method of verification is under discussion..

Unfortunately you are right. The official Shopify implementation is not working.

On-page Default is set as Granted but it should be Rejected.

Hi, I’m seeing the update isn’t working for thev2 parameters. ad_user_data and ad_personalization remain denied after update via the native Shopify privacy banner.

In addition the defaul is slow to be in possition meaning Ads can run with a not set flag. Is anyone else seeing this???

@VortexVR Correct. Shopify team not help with the any third party integration. they just help for the inbuilt feature provided by Shopify like Customer privacy.

I tested it using the Chrome extension and it appears to be working: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/consent-mode-inspector-by/phpllnjdcoiijcpgcbhlocjgcegjfnhb

Default on load is not set and only after a visitor accepts cookies it turns green. I’m also seeing green checkmarks in the Google Analytic settings. (It shows a warning if no cookie banner is used)

Dear Dries_Pieters,

Did you test your Shopify native solution for Consent Mode 2.0, or one of the available external apps?
Can you show which green checkmark you are referring to for the Google Analytics settings?

Would be super great. Any news at this time?
