500 Error Code when creating a Collection

I am trying to create a Collection. Every time I hit the save button, I receive a 500 error code. How do I overcome the code to be able to save my collection?

If you haven’t done so already, I’d encourage you to attempt some local troubleshooting steps. This will help to determine whether the error is related to the browser itself or Shopify. For ease, I’ve gone ahead and listed a few steps below that you can attempt to see if this helps to resolve:

  • Clear your Cache and Cookies.
  • Access the shop in an Incognito Tab.
  • Try Another Device (i.e a cell phone).
  • Try using Another Broswer (i.e Safari, Chrome, or Firefox).
  • Try accessing from the Shopify Mobile App.
  • Try Restarting your device.
  • Make sure your device is Up To Date.

  • Enter into the chat box Contact Support.

  • Log into your shop.

I have had this issue too! I also double-checked and can conclude this is not isolated to any one particular device. I get the same issue with my macbook (safari browser), my ipad, and my iphone.

This is an issue as I am working on starting up a new business, and have already paid for a 1 year plan. Can shopify please look to resolve this quickly?

I would first suggest some of the following local troublshooting steps:

  1. Log in to the store in an incognito/private window
  2. Try logging in through a different browser/device
  3. Clear your browser’s cookies + cache files and retry
