My first time posting.
We are using Shopify B2B/D2C and we have a brick store front. Question? When a B2B customer arrives in-store to place an order, we start and order but we cannot use “search” for find the company, shouldn’t the be a simple search?
Hey @mrkasmith ,
That seems like a reasonable expectation, especially for merchants using Shopify’s B2B features alongside a physical storefront.
If you’re creating an in store order for a B2B customer, having a simple way to search and select the company directly in Shopify POS would make the workflow much more efficient. Without that functionality, staff may have to rely on workarounds which can slow down the checkout process.
If this isn’t currently supported, I think it would be a valuable enhancement for Shopify POS, particularly for merchants who regularly serve both B2B and D2C customers in store.
Thank You !
Hi @mrkasmith
When you use Shopify B2B, you cannot search for a corporation within your POS as you do in Shopify Admin.
You can search for the consumer who is tied to the corporation in your Shopify POS as a workaround. The order will be connected to the company with its proper pricing as long as the customer belongs to a B2B company location when they place the product in their cart.
If your process depends on searching for companies in your POS, consider sending a feature request to Shopify Support.
Thanks for the feedback.

--I forgot to mention this search not populating when using ADMIN for B2B customers. It’s very cumbersome and this search function does not work at all when searching by Company Name in ADMIN. If a few users agree, we’ll be glad to make the suggestion to the developers.
Ah, got it! Thanks for clarifying that this is happening in the Admin, you are completely right, it is very cumbersome, currently, the order creation search bar in the admin prioritizes the individual customer’s name or email rather than the overarching B2B Company name, the best workaround right now is to search for the specific contact person attached to that B2B company, once you add that individual to the draft order their associated company profile and B2B pricing will automatically apply, completely agree that you should be able to just type the company name directly into the search, I highly recommend submitting that as a feature request to Shopify Support, as they are actively making improvements to the B2B portal right now,
Hey there @mrkasmith
You’re not missing anything. The POS customer search does not curently include a specific company search for B2B as some merchants would expect. The practical solution is to search by the assigned customer contact or customer name associated with the company and then place the order from that profile. If you do get regular wholesale walk ins you can also speed up the process of locating the right account by using consistent company name conventions.
Hey @mrkasmith ,
hope you’re doing well!
A built-in company search would definitely make the B2B POS workflow much more efficient. Hopefully Shopify expends this expands this functionality in a future updates.
