Can users delete their own accounts on our site?

  • i have i question on how a user can delete their own accounts ? if there is no way to delete it, can we create this feature ASAP. thank you.

    how users can delete their accounts in our website we don’t have feature like this i’m asking if shopify can provide us like this feature.

    The absence of this feature results in several violations in our country.

    or is there any app can support this feature.

You can definitely close your account. The steps to close your account can be found here. I can write out the steps below as well. If you don’t mind me asking, is there a reason why you would like to close your account? I’m happy to answer any questions you have about the platform if there’s an area you’d like to learn more about.

Steps to close account:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
  2. Click Deactivate store.
  3. If applicable, review the options to switch to the Pause and build plan, or start a new store.
  4. If you still want to deactivate, then click Deactivate store.
  5. Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
  6. Enter your password, and then click Deactivate now.

Hello Erin, i have a store on shopify when i say (users deleting their own accounts) i meant the customers on my website delete their users.

Hi @noura1 . Thank you for clarifying that! Are customer accounts currently mandatory for your customers?

At the moment there is no way for customers to delete their own customer account on their end, but they can request to have their information removed and you can do this on your end. You can read more about this process here. You’ll want to go to the Customers tab in your Shopify Admin and find the page of the customer who requested the information removed. On the bottom right of the page, you can click Erase personal data to erase their information.
