I’m posting on behalf of one of my clients because we’re having a really frustrating issue with Shopify payouts, and I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar (and found a solution).
Here’s the situation:

About a month ago, my client started receiving messages from Shopify saying they needed an EIN or payouts would be held.

They went ahead, obtained an EIN from the IRS, uploaded the proper documentation, and the banner disappeared. Shopify support even confirmed that they had everything they needed.

Despite this, payouts started being held on August 6. Some payments have gone through, but there’s still about $4,000 stuck in pending.

Over the past week, my client has messaged support multiple times. Each time they’re told the issue will be “expedited” and to watch their email, but nothing changes.

What’s especially frustrating is that payouts were held before the stated deadline in the EIN request messages, and they’re still being held even after Shopify confirmed the documents are on file.
Has anyone else run into payouts being held without clear reason, even after submitting the requested documents? Any advice on how to get this resolved more quickly would be greatly appreciated.
