How can I get a refund for an unintended Shopify monthly subscription?

Hello,

I opened up my bank account after receiving an email only to be shocked by a payment from Shopify for the monthly subscription. I completely forgot that i had a trial store with a selected plan that i did not close. I did not want to continue with the store i forgot to close it. How do i get a refund as i want to close the store and did not have the money to pay for this.> > Thanks

The quickest way to get to the bottom of this would be to contact our support through this link here so that we can investigate this for you.

Before you get in touch, I would also suggest to take the following steps to close your store as that is required if you’re looking for a refund:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Plan.
  2. Click Cancel subscription or Pause or deactivate store.
  3. Review the options to pause your plan, or start a new store. If you still want to deactivate your plan, then click Cancel subscription and close store or Deactivate store.
  4. Select a reason for the deactivation, and then click Continue.
  5. Enter your password, and then click Close store or Deactivate now.

You will then be able to reach out and request the refund.
