How often may I close my store? May I close it on and off spanning a total of 3 months over a year?

How often may I pause my store? May I pause it on and off, spanning a total of 3 months over a year? Or is it more like if I pause the store, I have 3 months available for that single pause period but if I switch it back on again after maybe 1 month, then I cannot pause the store ever again?

Hey, @james123456789 .

I noticed that you are a new member, welcome! Thanks for bringing your question to us. I’m more than happy to provide you with some information regarding the Pause plan.

First, I want to let you know that as of December 15, 2021, the Pause plan will no longer be available. This means that, if you select the full pause plan before December 15th, then you can remain on the plan for 90 days from the date from activation. You can also decide to move to the Pause and Build plan or reopen your store before the 90 days is up.

After 90 days, you will automatically be moved to the Pause and Build plan. On this plan, your store continues to run at a reduced cost of $9 USD per month. You can access your Shopify admin and edit your products when you need to, but your checkout is disabled. This means that customers can review your products, but they can’t purchase them. If you go this route, consider uninstalling any third-party apps that have recurring charges so that you’re not billed for those apps after you pause your store. In order to choose the Pause plan (before December 15th) or the Pause and Build plan you can follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your store as the store owner.

  2. From your Shopify admin, click Settings > Plan.

  3. Click Pause or cancel subscription > Pause and build plan.

  4. Carefully review the plan details, and then click Switch to Pause and build.

You can reactivate your plan at any time, to start selling again. Please let me know if you have any questions! In the meantime, may I ask if there is a certain reason you’re hoping to pause your store?
