Dear Shopify Community,
I hope you can help me with an urgent issue I’m facing. I received an email stating that my account has been flagged due to outdated or missing configurations, which violates Shopify’s API Usage Policy. The email also mentioned that some features of my store have been temporarily disabled, and that I need to resolve the issue within 7 days to avoid permanent closure.
Here’s the problem: I’m not sure if this email actually came from Shopify, as the sender’s address is mailer.shopifynoreply@gmail.com, which doesn’t look like an official Shopify address to me. I’ve never encountered this situation before, and I’m unsure whether this is a phishing attempt or a legitimate warning.
Can anyone advise me on how to proceed? Should I be worried, and what steps should I take to ensure my store is safe?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Best regards,
Hi @Andrea02
Welcome to the community. And do not worry it is a scam.
There are like 5 similar topics here every day, about different ways scammers try to lure you with some scare tactic. And with a sense of urgency, do count on your fast reply and then start with the script. IF you search here or Google you should find some full experiences of people that did reply and some lost some money. But most felt something is off.
So if you think for a moment, anyone can make any GMail email, like realdonaldtrump@gmail.com or santaclaus@gmail.com
but that does not have any connection with reality. WE all know it is[email removed]
But for real, https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/privacy-and-security/account-security/phishing
Recognizing legitimate Shopify emails
Shopify will only send emails from official domains such as @shopify.com, @email.shopify.com, @em.shopify.com, and @shopify-billpay.melio.com. Emails from public email services such as Gmail, Yahoo, Apple mail, or Hotmail aren’t from Shopify and should be treated as potential phishing attempts.
Also you will get a lot of emails from “experts” that want to improve your store, fix some crucial bug, however convincing it sounds, that is all scams.
So stay safe, search here of Google for similar cases and happy selling.

Thanks @Laza for the warm welcome and for the detailed info super helpful!
It’s reassuring to know I’m not the only one getting these kinds of emails. I had a feeling something was off, especially with the urgency and the Gmail address. I’ll definitely check out that Shopify link and stay alert moving forward.
Appreciate the support, happy to be here!
