I just connect my Squarespace domain to Shopify, and it’s saying ‘Your domain has a Cloudflare Proxy, which is not supported by Shopify.’ I’m new to Shopify and don’t know much technical stuff, bit I can’t find any record connected to Cloudfare. Please, how do i fix this??
Also, it says SSL pending. Does it automatically confirm SSL?
I understand you’re having difficulty connecting your Squarespace domain to Shopify. Let’s address each problem one by one:
1. Cloudflare Proxy issue: The error message you received indicates that your domain is using Cloudflare Proxy, which Shopify doesn’t support. Although you don’t see any records related to Cloudflare, the proxy might have been enabled previously. To fix this:
Log in to your Cloudflare account
Navigate to the DNS management section for your domain
Check the DNS records, especially A or CNAME records
If you see an orange cloud icon next to any record, click on it to turn it gray. This will disable Cloudflare Proxy for that record.
2. SSL pending: Regarding the SSL issue, Shopify will automatically provide and install an SSL certificate for your domain. However, this process can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours after you successfully connect your domain. You don’t need to do anything extra, just wait a bit and check back later.
If you still encounter difficulties after following these steps, don’t hesitate to contact Shopify support. They can help you verify your DNS settings and ensure everything is set up correctly.

Hi - I’m having the exact same problem: Your domain has a Cloudfare Proxy, which is not supported by Shopify.
I purchased my domain from namecheap.com. They’ve assured me that there is nothing on their end with Cloudflare and that my domain has been configured correctly. I do not personally have an account with Cloudfare, so what will I be logging into? Through my research, I’m learning that many people are having the same problem and it’s possibly a “false detection” on Shopify. How do I get around this or have my account rectified?
When a domain has a Cloudflare proxy, they can conflict with Shopify’s networking configurations and removing proxies can improve the connectivity to your Shopify store. The Cloudflare proxy can generally be disabled through the domain settings located in your domain provider’s portal. That being said, if you’re unable to disable the Cloudflare proxy on your domain, then this is something that the domain provider can help you with and you can get in touch with them here: Namecheap LiveChat Support.

Hello, I’ve been in contact with Namecheap multiple times and was told that it is not their issue - that they do NOT use a Cloudfare proxy. I spoke with 3 reps and they all told me the same thing. Please advise.
I’m having the same issue. I have a domain purchased from godaddy, followed all of the steps to connect my domain to my new Shopify store and am receiving an error message about a Cloudfare Proxy. I’ve logged into the host domain and can’t see anything in the DNS records to show I have cloudfare set up. I’ve never set up a cloudfare account. It seems that over the past month, numerous Shopify customers have been experiencing this so I’m hoping someone can provide insight on what to do.
Have you found a solution to the cloudflare error? I also purchased my domain from godaddy and am currently receiving the same error message. Unsure how to resolve/proceed.
Same thing here! I’ve had a Shopify store for years with 2 GoDaddy domains connected with zero issues. A couple days ago I started creating a second site with a new domain and now this. GoDaddy says it’s not them. And I don’t have a Cloudflare account. Never even heard of it!
Having the same issue with a domain that was initially purchased through google but is now with Squarespace. It’s been around a week with no resolution & my shop isn’t accessible either. I thought this was an issue at Squarespace’s end because they did have some hiccups with my domain but going through this thread, it does look like a shopify problem. What a mess.
I am having the exact same issue with a new domain from Spaceship. This is an issue on Shopify’s end, not domain providers. Please resolve this ASAP @Shopify_77
