Since the 5th of July our Shopify analytics has not been recording store sessions correctly, we are still getting sales but there has been a massive drop-off in store sessions being recorded.
For example we are spending around 1k per day on Meta and Google and getting around 50 store sessions per day. which is down about 100%
Meta is still recording purchases but Google ads has completely stopped recording any conversions.
If anyone has any similar experiences or suggestions please let me know
We have had the exact same issue, should be getting 2000+ sessions based on ad spend and normal CR however showing 50 sessions with 75% CR. Support says its nothing⌠I have found support has been shocking in the last 12 months. Dont look into anything and response time is ridiculous. Let me know if you work it out. Ours started June 24.
As a Shopify expert, Iâve identified the issue: it seems to have started with the implementation of the new GDPR regulations concerning cookies and customer data collection. To resolve this, please navigate to your customer privacy settings. If you have âcollect data after consentâ enabled, ensure that your cookies banner is also enabled to comply with GDPR requirements.
For a more detailed explanation, you can refer to this link, which provides comprehensive information on these settings.
Regarding your solutions:
Check GA4 Integration: Ensure that your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) integration is correctly set up and compliant with GDPR guidelines for data collection.
Implement Privacy Settings: Review and adjust your customer privacy settings in Shopify. Enable the âcollect data after consentâ option if required, and activate the cookies banner to inform and obtain consent from visitors regarding data collection practices.
We take pride in being recognized as one of the top Shopify partners, offering expert guidance and solutions tailored to optimize your Shopify storeâs performance and compliance with data protection regulations.
In the past few months, we had observed that some of our clients experienced similar discrepancies with the âAdd to Cartâ report after adjusting settings in the âCustomer Privacyâ section of their store settings. Additionally, Shopify support has informed us that if a visitor hasnât accepted cookies via a cookie banner, Shopify might not track all visitor details comprehensively, which could result in the location appearing as N/A.
Itâs important to have a robust GDPR/CCPA compliance solution to mitigate these issues. Our solution, Pandectes GDPR Compliance, has been globally recognized for its professionalism and effectiveness. For example, one of the largest agencies in Germany, Tante-e.com, has reported that our solution effectively resolved their issues with incorrect admin and analytics data, including significant fluctuations in online store sessions and bounce rates.
We highly recommend exploring how Pandectes can enhance compliance and data accuracy for your Shopify store.
