What causes the 'Too many redirects' error on my domain?

Hi

PLease help in setting up domain. whenever I preview my store it appears fine with random URL address on this https://59isal07x2jfd0eh-63003066553.shopifypreview.com/

but when I Opened with my domain https://beauteonthego.myshopify.com/, it gives me error of “Too many redirect”. I have contacted to my domain help center. they said the error is from the Shopify website. I have deleted cookies and caches and opened with Chrome and Mozilla but same error appears

Hey @Sameel ,

Welcome to the Shopify Community!

The reason you see the “too many redirects” error is because your website has been set up in a way that keeps redirecting it between different web addresses. When your browser tries to load your site, it goes back and forth between those web addresses in a way that will never complete — a redirect loop.

I have just taken a look at your website beauteonthego.net and it appears the domain does not point to Shopify. The domain has an A record pointing to 74.208.236.158.

You will need to edit your domain DNS settings via your third-party host account. Ensure the following details are entered:

  • Point the A (@) record to Shopify’s IP address, which is 23.227.38.65

  • Point the CNAME (www) record to shops.myshopify.com

As a side note, I love the work you’ve done on your website so far. When I was looking at your products I noticed you don’t have product descriptions. A product description is very important because it’s essentially the marketing copy that explains what a product is and why it’s worth purchasing. The purpose of a product description is to supply customers with important information about the features and benefits of the product so they’re compelled to buy.

A well-crafted product description moves buyers through your conversion funnel. If you add a bit of creativity, your product pages instantly become more compelling, leading to more conversions from casual shoppers! I have attached a blog for you to look over which will help you craft the perfect product description for your store:

Let me know if I can clarify anything further!

Thank you so much. I have corrected the A records. Even though these things are new to me but you guided me so well.

Also, thanks for the tip about the product descriptions. I will work on it for sure.

Happy to help @Sameel ! Don’t hesitate to reach back out if you require any further assistance as you continue to work on your store.

All the best,

Hi Moria i am facing the same issue with my website. Can you help me?

Hey @Somu , I’d be happy to help! Do you mind sharing your website URL so I can take a closer look at the domain records?

hi moira how are you

same problem here i’m still trying to build my store and i have the same issue

this is my website URL https://benachmarket.myshopify.com/

Hi, Moria. i have same problem. can you help me please?

Hey @boxer , do you mind sharing your website URL so I can take a closer look? Thanks

Hey Moira, I have the same problem! My URL is cozyypet.myshopify.com or mpetie.shop

Thanks in advance! (In domain DNS settings on GoDaddy, I added A record: 23.227.38.65 but it does not give me an option to delete the previous one)

@jelenap ,

You need to ensure the following details are entered:

  • Point the A [email removed] record to Shopify’s IP address, which is 23.227.38.65

  • Point the CNAME (www) record to shops.myshopify.com

Note: You can have only one A record associated with your domain. Please delete any others.

  • Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center. Select your domain to access the Domain Settings page. Under Additional Settings, select Manage DNS. Next to any existing A Records, click the pencil icon, and then click the trash icon to delete the record.

Hey thanks, I have already found the solution! It was not possible to delete or edit, so I first had to remove forwarding.. After that, I did what you just wrote and it works now. Thanks anyway for your help!

Sounds great @jelenap ! Don’t hesitate to reach back out if you require any further assistance as you continue to work on your store.

Hi Moira,
I am facing the same issue. When I click on my Google & Youtube or Pinterest Sales channel I get “mockflower.myshopify.com redirected you too many times.”.
I have checked my DNS settings in google domains and it seems to be good:
CNAME = mockflower.myshopify.com
and

A = 23.227.38.65

What else could the problem be?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Kind regards,

Saskia

Hey @MockFlower ,

Ensure that you point the CNAME (www) record to shops.myshopify.com

Let me know how you get on!

Hi @Moira I also have the same issue.

My dmoain is bockkitz.ch and I have:

Can you help me? Thank you!

I’m having a similar issue with my store. My site was working if you typed www.penelopeclaireponywear.com.au into the web bar it took you to my Shopify store but the url showing was www.f86296-2.myshopify.com not my domain of penelopeclaireponywear.com.au so I went back into domain settings this morning and added the CNAME www and the A record @ pointing to 23.227.38.65 but now I get the “too many redirects error” no matter how I try to access my site. Can you please help me fix it?

Hi Moira… looking at all previous and similar posts, I’m also facing the same issue… and yes both DNS records in Godaddy are properly updated for some time now with:

  • Point the A (@) record to Shopify’s IP address, which is 23.227.38.65

  • Point the CNAME (www) record to shops.myshopify.com

What else might I be missing to avoid getting “0c85fe-5.myshopify.com redirected you too many times.” message on the “Google & Youtube” settings page?

My domain is sqoon.co and shopify page url 0c85fe-5.myshopify.com

Hey @ZiadNaamani !

I just checked your domain sqoon.co and it appears you have multiple A records.

  • The domain has an A record pointing to 34.102.136.180.
  • The domain has an A record pointing to 23.227.38.65.
Domains that have multiple A records, will likely cause issues. If a browser sees multiple A records for a root domain it randomly tries to use one of them, so even if one of the A records is right, some visitors or systems may have trouble connecting to the website successfully. Moving forward, you will need to remove any other A records for the root domain.

Hey @PCPonywear ,

I just took a look at your domain penelopeclaireponywear.com.au and everything appears to be in working order / all your DNS records are correct. Are you still facing trouble on your end?
