Why Are You Allowing Scammers to Flourish?

Topic summary

Community members allege that multiple scam e‑bike storefronts are operating on Shopify, naming Voxenbike, LondoBike, and others. One user later flags a specific site, Maredet (meradet.myshopify.com), warning others to avoid it.

A community participant (not staff) suggests practical steps to mitigate harm:

  • Spread awareness on social media and forums.
  • Report stores via Shopify’s official reporting page (link provided).
  • Contact local authorities and consumer protection agencies if victimized.
  • Encourage buyers to research stores before purchasing.

Several posters contend Shopify is already aware of numerous scam sites but fails to act, criticizing the platform’s safety for purchasers. They call for stronger enforcement, including punishing scammers and returning money to affected buyers.

No confirmation from Shopify staff appears in the thread. No actions or resolutions are recorded. Key open issue: what concrete steps, if any, Shopify will take against the reported stores and to improve buyer protection.

Why are you allowing these scam ebike companies to continue to steal from countless individuals via their fake Shopify storefronts.

Hi @av8torfl ,

As a community member, I recommend taking the following steps:

  1. Spread Awareness: Share your experience on social media, forums, or community groups to alert others and prevent more people from falling victim.

  2. Report to Shopify: Use Shopify’s official reporting channels [https://help.shopify.com/en/legal#/report-an-issue] to submit information and evidence for their investigation.

  3. Contact Authorities: If you’ve been a victim, report the incident to local authorities and consumer protection agencies.

  4. Encourage Vigilance: Remind the community to research and verify the legitimacy of online stores before making transactions.

By working together and staying vigilant, we can help protect each other from scams.

Best regards,

Makka

Shopify is very aware of this multitude of scam bike sites on their platform yet fail to do anything about it. That’s the real issue isn’t it?

I agree with all of you - Shopify is not a safe platform for purchasers. Shopify encourages scammers despite complaining to them. They do nothing to stop merchants from scamming people. It would be great if they punished scammers and return the money to purchaser. Shopify should have the details of these scammers - so they should be more vigilant. Shame on Shopify.

Maredet is a scammer - don’t buy. Maradet (meradet.myshopify.com) - scammer - please beware.
