How to fix the 'Too many redirects' error on my website?

Hello!

I have been having issues for a couple of weeks trying to get our website to work. Every time I (and others) have tried to open the website it comes up with an error saying “too many redirects.” I have cleared my cache, cookies, etc., etc. I have looked at the DNS and just don’t know where to go from here! HELP!

Hey, @hellonorman .

Thanks for reaching out in our Community. I completely understand the importance of getting this issue resolved, so let’s get to the bottom of it together.

May I ask if you’re currently using your subdomain (www.website.com) as your primary domain? For example, if you just type into your browser website.com (without subdomain) does the same error occur? If so, you want to ensure that your domain is set up with the required A record and CNAME as per this guide: Set up your existing domain to connect to Shopify.

If the domain is set up accordingly, then we will want to remove the domain from the admin and add it back:

  • To remove the domain from the Admin, head to Admin > Settings > Domains, and to the right of the domain, click on Manage > Remove.
  • To add the domain back into the Admin, head to Admin > Settings > Domains and click on Connect existing domain in the top right corner, enter the domain, and proceed through the prompted steps.

Please give that a shot and let me know if it helps to resolve the issue. If you’re having any troubles removing the domain, please reach out to our support team. To do so, visit our Help Center and log in to your account to create a support request through live chat, email, or callback. Once you have logged in to your account, type your request in ‘Ask about a topic’, scroll down to ‘Get Support’, and then click ‘Continue.’ They will be able to access your account specifically and help you with these steps.

Looking forward to hearing back from you, so that we can continue to work on this together.

Hey, @hellonorman .

Just checking in with you here. I want to ensure that you receive all the support you may need. Please don’t hesitate to reach back out if you have any questions.

Warmly,

Hi! Thank you! I still am unable to correct the issue even with all the
helpful information I received! Is there anyway someone could call me
tomorrow? I am the only one at our store today so I wouldn’t be able to do
it today with customers coming in and out. Anytime between 10 AM & 4:30 PM
MST. Thank you so much!
