successful way to drive traffic to your website??

What is a successful way to drive traffic to your website?? I’m just curious to know what different tactics people use.

Hi, @cupcakelove17 !

Mac here from Shopify. Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums. I’m happy to help.

There’re many different pathways to consider when trying to grow your brand and drive more traffic to your store. The most important thing is to develop a good product or service with benefits that can be clearly outlined to a specific audience. This will allow you to create tailored marketing material and optimise your website with your audience in mind. I will share a few resources that you can use to drive more traffic to your store.

To get started, The General Checklist is a great tool that will ensure that you have your Shopify store all set up and ready for customers to make purchases on. In other words, having a finished product, that includes having your media, shipping and check out all in working order. To further optimize your site and create organic traffic, feel free to check out this resource on how to increase SEO, which will help increase your store’s discoverability by using relevant keywords that your target customers will likely search for on Google.

A great way to attract customers is through your social channels. Building your social media presence will drive brand awareness, create more demand for your products and in turn, increase sales. This can be done by creating curated, relevant and local content as much as possible. Click here to learn more about creating a social media marketing strategy.

Another popular method that will help drive traffic is to run social media advertisements through Facebook, Instagram and Google. These platforms allow you to curate highly targeted ad campaigns directly to your audience. I’d love to know more about your business! What type of products are you selling?

To begin with I will recommend that you spend very limited amounts on traffic generation. Use it to test conversions. Many websites need adjustments to content structure and sales pitches to get good conversion. Only after your conversions are decent I would start spending more.

In regards to SEO that is very good to start working on. The Shopify guide is OK but do not include all the information you need to rank well in Google. One area in particular that is not emphasized enough is links. You need links from other websites to rank! Also, in the guide it’s said that paid and social links do not work. That is not true. Paid links do indeed work (most of the time) but you should also try and get links in more organic ways - reach out to related sites, get links from other companies you work with, from friends and family and engage in related communities.

On top of Google and Facebook ads I will also recommend that you consider other types of ads, such as targeted newsletters or direct ads at related sites.
